Welcome!
In honor of Pascal Tabu, Tabu Ley, Le Seigneur Rochereau. He passed at age 76 in Brussels on November 30, 2013 after an illustrious musical career spanning about 50 years.
Today we'll hear his music and music of others such as Docteur Nico, Franco & OK Jazz, Les Grands Maquisards, Les Bantous de la Capitale...all from the golden 1960s and 1970s when real rumba was king.
What was he doing? Who did he influence? Who were his competitors? What was that scene like?
Of course, the sheer number of songs, artists and groups of the era could never be covered in a short two hours, but I've tried to give you a sample. I hope that you will enjoy the selections offered here.
